Holy Holy Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was and is and is to come
With all creation I sing
Praise to the King of kings
You are my everything
And I will adore You!

Time is too slow for those who wait,
too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve,
too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love,
time is eternity.

An Oldie, But Goodie: A Native American elder once described his
own inner struggles in this manner: "Inside of me there two dogs.
One of the dogs is mean and evil. The other dog is good. The mean
dog fights the good dog all the time." When asked which dog wins,
he reflected for a moment and replied, "The one I feed the most."

An artist went to visit a dear friend. When he arrived, she was
weeping. He asked why. She showed him a handkerchief of
exquisite beauty that had great sentimental value, which had
been ruined by a drop of indelible ink.
The artist asked her to let him have the handkerchief, which
he returned to her my mail several days later. When she opened
the package she could hardly believe her eyes. The artist, using
the inkblot as a base, had drawn on the handkerchief a design
of great beauty with India ink. Now it was more beautiful and
more valuable than ever.
Sometimes the tragedies that break our hearts can become the
basis for a more beautiful design in our lives. Be patient with the
hurts over which you have no control. They may become a source
of healing, help and beauty.

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry,
two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.
One of these days is Yesterday with all its mistakes and cares, its
faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed
forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring
back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we
cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone forever.
The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow. With all its
possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and its poor
performance; Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.
Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of
clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow,
for it is yet to be born.
This leaves only one day, Today. Any person can fight the battle
of just one day. It is when you and I add the burdens of those
two awful eternities, Yesterday and Tomorrow, that we break
down. It is not the experience of Today that drives a person mad,
it is the remorse or bitterness of something which happened
Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring.
Let us, therefore, live but one day at a time.

An ancient parable tells that the Lord God, who created the
earth, did not want to give happiness to women and men directly,
but rather hide it from them so that they could search for it. So
the Lord called a council of the good spirits and asked where
happiness could be hidden.
One spirit suggested that the bottom of the sea would be a good
place as people would not be able to reach it. But Lord did not
think it a suitable place as they could dive down and find it.
Another suggested that it be hidden in the deepest mine. But
again the Lord said they would soon discover it.
Finally the idea came that it be hidden in the depths of men's
and women's hearts, because they would look for happiness
everywhere except within themselves...
Have you been searching for peace and contentment?
Happiness is, after all, an inside job.

Do you love to be loved, or do you love giving love?
Those who want love, seek love and crave love, will
find themselves in times of great darkness and despair
when that love is absent or they feel it has wronged them.
Those who give love freely, without strings or expectations,
in all they do, live in the sunshine of that love for all their
days.
Life is an adventure when you bring your love to the world.
You are unburdened and free. Like minded people are
attracted by your tenderness and reverence for life. Bias
and bigotry are foreign and unfathomable. Dignity and
respect are your currency, and the more you give away,
the richer you become.
You will never have to look for that kind of love.
It will surround you.

When you are poked or prodded or pinched
or squeezed, what comes out of you?
Does anger come flying out in a torrent of words?
Anxiety dampen your skin with a fearful sweat?
Uncertainty make you apologize for your opinion?
A breakdown of communication between your
mind and heart and soul will leave you unsure
of how you truly feel or why your feelings make
you uncomfortable.
The surest indication of internal separation is
the injurious way you respond to the world. The
surest indication of internal wholeness is the
unflustered, calm and caring way you react in
the face of crisis.
What's inside of you, is what comes out of you.

To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than
to be alive without breathing. (Martin Luther King Jr)
The following is from a clipping that Steve Worden from
Tulsa OK found on the inside cover of his Grandfather’s well
worn 1909 Scoffield Bible:
This book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way
of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers.
Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories
are true and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise,
believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy. It contains light
to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you. It
is the travelers’ map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass,
the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s character. Here paradise
is restored, heaven opened and the gates of hell disclosed.
Christ is its grand Object, our good its design and the glory of
God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide
the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine
of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of pleasure. It is given
you in life, will be opened in the judgment and will be remembered
forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the
greatest labor and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths and
superficial relationships, so that you will live deep within your heart.
May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation
of people so that you will work for justice, equality and peace.
May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain,
rejection, starvation and war, so that you will reach out your hand to
comfort them and change their pain into joy.
And may God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a
difference in the world, so that you will do the things which others
tell you cannot be done.

There is a period of life where we swallow a knowledge of ourselves and it
becomes either good or sour inside.
For too many of us, feelings of shame, even self-hatred, are paramount.
No one of us has a fully untarnished past. Every man, every woman, even
every child experiences regret over some action. We are not perfect.
Perfection is not expected in the Divine plan. But we are expected to
take our experiences and grow from them, to move beyond the shame
of them, to celebrate what they have taught us.
Each day offers us a fresh start at assimilating all that we have been.
What has gone before enriches who we are now, and through the many
experiences we have survived, we have been prepared to help others, to
smooth the way for another, perhaps, who is searching for a new direction.
We can let go of our shame and know instead that it sweetens the nuggets
of the wisdom we can offer to others. We are alike. We are not without
faults. Our trials help another to smoother sailing.
I will relish the joy at hand. I can share my wisdom.
Painful pasts can brighten someone's future, when openly shared.
